Free Childrens Eye Tests

Free children's eye tests at Leightons
Opticians
The long summer holidays provide the perfect opportunity to have
your children's eyes tested before the
new school year. Regular eye tests are important and the good
news is that for children under the age of 16 (or under 19 and in
full-time education) they are absolutely free through
the NHS. You don't even need to pre-register to receive your Free children's eye test as
our friendly branch staff will do it all for you!
Most children really enjoy the eye examination and all the
optometrists at Leightons are experienced and have plenty of time
to discuss any questions you or your child might have.
Most children never need glasses, but if they do it is
important they are worn. Choosing the right frame choice for your
children is even more important than for adults because your child
may be undergoing a period of rapid growth and their skin can be
more sensitive. The glasses must be comfortable and children need
to look good if they are going to be accepted- A positive attitude
from the parents is a great help.

Leightons offer a great range of children's glasses at no charge with
an NHS voucher (issued after the eye examination). If you're
happy to pay a little more, you can choose from our range of
designer and lightweight models.
Kid's glasses often need adjusting
from time to time and our registered dispensing opticians will
usually be able to rectify the problem quickly in branch. Leightons
make no charge for simple adjustments if the children's glasses were originally
dispensed by us.
Protection from UV rays
Children's eyes are especially at risk from UV rays so Leightons
Opticians stock a range of kid's sunglasses that block 100% of both UVA and
UVB rays. We have a great selection of different styles to choose
from including children's designer frames and shatterproof sunglasses. See our
Kid's Sunglasses section or
contact your
local branch for more information.
